Ted and Susie Hillman have a wide variety of summer plants, an array of summer foliage and lots of outdoor decor that dress up this very unique back yard. There are lots of perennials and flowering plants that are planted yearly. Susie is always on the lookout for something decorative to dress up their yard. The patio shed with an overhang and room for sitting also has a fairy garden planter. Susie’s She-Shed, also has an overhang, and is her little go to place for reading or just thinking. The Hillmans have an area just for the birds. Lots of blooming flowers to attract different birds and plenty of bird feeders. Everywhere you look you see something different.

When students went back to school last week, they probably talked about their summer, but these St. Rose School eighth grade students might've had a summer to top them all. Collyns Stout and Ben Arens attended National History Day in Washington D.C. in June this summer along with 6,000 students from around the country and the world. Arens wrote an individual historical paper about the Battle of Khe Sanh, a major battle in the Vietnam War. Arens earned his bid to Nationals when the second place paper dropped out before the National competition. Stout did an individual performance about Grace Fryer, who “was the first Radium Girl that sued U.S. Radium for poisoning girls that worked in the radium firm.” To read more about the competition and the results, check out this week's edition of the Crofton Journal! https://www.croftonjournal.com/o/the-crofton-journal/page/subscriptions
