The Wakefield Trojan wrestling team traveled west last Friday, to participate in the Atkinson West Holt wrestling tournament with 12 other teams on the roster, and an 11th-place overall finish.
The Trojans put together 18 team points, behind O’Neill’s first-place 201; Burke/Gregory’s, 189 and second; and Summerland’s third with 120 team points. Neligh-Oakdale finished in fifth with 98. Burwell, West Point Beemer, North Central, West Holt, Todd County, Plainview, Ainsworth and Creighton rounded out of the roster.

132: Caleb Chase won with a bye; lost 3-1 to Thiele of Summerland; won by pin over Kaczor of North Central; won 4-2 over Mathews of O’Neill and lost by medical forfeit to Yates of O’Neill.

Ponca, Madison – Triangular
The Wakefield Trojan wrestling team participated in a triangular dual event with Ponca’s Indian team and the Madison Dragons on Thursday, Jan. 13.
The Indians were able to outscore the Trojans, 42-30, and the Trojans defeated the Madison Dragon team, 54-18.
