The Wakefield boys' basketball team is on a mini-run as it heads into the Christmas break.
The Trojans have won four straight including a 58-30 win over Randolph back on December 14; a 60-51 win over Stanton on the road on December 17 and a 59-48 win over Westwood from Iowa on December 20.
Against the Mustangs on the 17th, the Trojans sprinted out early to only watch Stanton recuperate and work its way back into the game.
Cade Johnson paved the way for the Trojans with 18 points, but it took the team to turn back Stanton.
"We continue to get a lot of production out of so many guys," Wakefield coach Joe Wendte said. "It is really fun to watch it all come together during some of these games."
The Trojans came on strong in the second frame after trailing by five at the first break.
Wakefield tied it up before the intermission at 24-24 before the Trojans moved ahead in the third frame by a regular dozen to head to the fourth with a 44-32 lead.
Westwood would make a comeback in the final eight minutes but the damage was done and the Trojans came away with the big win.
"Cade Johnson continues to get his hands on the ball and is looking to finish on the other end of the court," Wendte said. "We found ourselves down but came back and took care of the game."
The Trojans were set to take on Hartington-Newcastle on December 21 in Hartington before taking some days off for the Holiday moratorium.
Wakefield will move forward for a date at the Shootout on the Elkhorn between Christmas and the New Year.
