The Little Red Hen Theatre held four sold out performances of its summer show, "Shrek the Musical".
"Shrek was a huge undertaking for the Little Red Hen and featured a cast of 43 singers, dancers, and actors and 10 technical volunteers who worked behind the scenes to make the magic happen," said LRHT general manager, T. Adam Goos. "Performers and volunteers for the show ranged in age from 6 to over 68, and hailed not only from Wakefield, but also came from Pender, Allen, Emerson, Ponca, Wayne, and Laurel.
Not only was the cast one of the most geographically diverse that the theatre has had in recent years, but audiences came from all over to watch the show. (One family drove from Bassett and Utica to see the production.), according to Goos.
Goos was quite pleased with how well the production turned out.
"This cast and crew was amazing, they put in countless hours of rehearsal and practice to create something wonderful," he said. "Our only regret is that we weren't able to share this magic with even more people. This type of production would not be possible without the wonderful support of our community, in particular our patrons, who help make events like this possible"
The next up for the Little Red Hen Theatre is an education event, Shakespeare Outdoors, that is slated for early September.
