Post 81 beats Crofton

Wakefield Post 81 Senior Legion turned back a very stubborn Crofton Post 123 team on its way to a 4-2 victory at a game played at Crofton.

"Nate pitched a great game," Wakefield coach Julio Sanchez said. "We had the defense behind him and we're moving forward with our team."

Sanchez, in his first year on the seat at the end of the dugout, likes what he sees from his team.

"We've got a ways to go but we're getting there," Sanchez said. "It matters at the end of the year and I think we'll get there.

Wakefield scored a run in the third after Cade Johnson doubled and scored on a Blake Brown single.

Post 81 plated another run in the fifth then Sam Nuno scored immediately after.

"We're playing better ball as we get into the summer," Sanchez said. " Some of the players are getting into baseball shape and I like where we're headed."

Couy Johnson scored in the third to complete the 4-2 final.

Oswald allowed a single hit in the game which after an error accounted for both Crofton runs.

"We need to clean some things up defensively," Sanchez said. "And we need to hit the ball better."
