The Wakefield Rescue Squad will be hosting its annual fundraiser with a few COVID-19 twists.
Usually, the group hosts the event in the park and serves hamburgers, hot dogs and brats.
This year the group will serve hamburgers, hot dogs and brats, but from a drive-through venue at the fire hall.
"We knew we couldn't do what we would like to do," event coordinator Teresa Soderberg said. "We don't want people to get out and be exposed to something-we just want to offer some good food and we will deliver it if necessary."
As usual, the rescue people will be available to give people a meal, regardless the circumstances.
"We would love to provide the atmosphere of a picnic and all of the interaction that involves," Soderberg said. "That's not going to happen this year."
The squad will offer a drive-through service of its normal fare at the fire hall from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
"Same good food, just different delivery of the food," Soderberg said. "The money will go towards medical supplies for the squad."
The meal is a free-will offering and there will also be a silent auction on the departments Facebook page.
In addition, the squad will offer delivery of the meal.
