In arguably the toughest Class D girls district in the state and a highly competitive boys district, the Wolfpack of Tri County Northeast ran very well.
Two athletes qualified for the state meet in Kearney on Friday, October 25th. Four athletes hit season/career bests on a day when the wind hovered around 35 miles per hour.
Junior, Alejandra Hermosillo ran a career best time of 21:40.73 to earn the 15th qualifier spot in a field that featured 22 runners that could have qualified for the state meet. Hermosillo qualified for a second consecutive year. Hermosillo just missed qualifying as a freshman by 3 seconds.
Sophomore, Jude Ridenour set his season/career best time of 18:32.95, placing 12th in a field in which he was 18th seeded entering the day. This was a tremendous achievement as a first-year runner.
Other Wolfpack that had good days included Devon Lewellen who posted a career best finish in a time of 20:32.34. Freshman, Hailey Millard ran a season best finish in a time of 26:31.86.
Rounding out the team runs, senior Bre Millard finished 19th in a clocking of 22:45.78. Junior, Alex Snyder continued to run well, posting a time of 19:39.44. Jenni Olson and Chloe Peters posted times of 27:32 and 26:31 respectively.
Ridenour will run in the state meet at the Kearney Country Club on Friday, with race time starting at 2:30. Hermosillo will follow Ridenour hitting the course at 3:30.
