The Wakefield Trojans 12 and under softball team traveled to Osmond on Thursday, June 27 in a high-scoring matchup.

Osmond came out of the gate hot in the top of the first inning as they put five runs across the plate to take a commanding lead immediately.

That did nothing to slow down Wakefield, however, who responded with five runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to immediately even things back up going into the second.

In the top of the second inning, Wakefield’s defense calmed down drastically. After giving up five runs just one inning prior, the defense held strong to hold Osmond scoreless and build momentum up for the Trojan offense.

In the bottom half of the inning, Wakefield made good use of the momentum built up by its defense, and tacked on five more runs to take a 10-5 lead going into the third.

In the third inning, Wakefield once again stood tall on defense. After one run came across the plate, Wakefield retired three out of the next four batters to maintain a four-run lead.

Over the next two innings, Wakefield continued to stay aggressive offensively while their defense continued to remain strong.

Behind aggressive at-bats, Wakefield scored five more runs in the next two innings to secure a 15-8 victory in their last regular season game ahead of the 12u State Tournament starting on July 12th.
