The City of Wakefield secured a $25,000 grant for new playground equipment in Graves Park.

Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District granted the money to the city for a project replacing Double Play Park playground equipment.

The project will cost $42,000, and the city received donations from The Laundry Room, Central Valley Ag, NRP, and Nick’s Wood Shop.

The city office has ordered the new equipment and it will be installed in late summer, however, the city hasn’t set a date yet, according to Nicki Decker, city administrative coordinator.

Decker said the current equipment is roughly 20 years old, several pieces have been broken over the years, and the city can no longer get replacement pieces to repair the equipment.
