Trojan wrestling hits the mat

The Wakefield Trojans boys wrestling team took a trip to Howells on Saturday, Dec. 2 for the Howells-Dodge Invite.
In the field of 17 teams, the Trojans took home 13th place, scoring 28 team points with eight wrestlers competing.
Following their tough competition in Howells, the Trojans have a week before heading back to the mats on Saturday, Dec. 9 in Stanton for another competition.
Individual Trojan results from the Howells-Dodge Invite are as follows:
126: Samuel Chase won by fall in three straight matches against Hinkle of Elgin Public/Pope John (EPPJ), Schild of Lyons-Decatur Northeast (LDNE), and Keys of Wisner-Pilger (W-P); lost by major decision to Bunner of Clarkson-Leigh (C-L); defeated Pedraza of Madison by decision. Chase placed second to score 16.0 team points.
132: Lane Fischer won by decision over Estrada of Madison; lost by fall to Johnson of Oakland-Craig (O-C); received a bye; won by fall over Ashcraft of LDNE; lost by fall to Leichleiter of Tekema-Herman (T-H).
