The Trojans were host to Dixon Count rivals the Tri County Northeast Wolfpack on Friday, September 15th at Gardner Field.
The game started off promising for the Trojans with an early touchdown by Timothy Kaufman and an extra point kicked in by Domingo Centino. The Wolfpack then battled their way down to the goal line pushing one in with an extra 2 supplied by a pass from quarterback Ben Jorgensen to Michael Dickens.
Wakefield answered back with a run by Adrian Flores scoring and another kick through the uprights making the score 14-8. The Wolfpack were the next on the board when Brayden McCorkindale runs one in, though the point after was unsuccessful, which was followed quickly by a score by Dylan Boyle and a successful point after making the score 14-30.
Adrian Flores would again find his way into the end zone for the Trojans and with an unsuccessful point after made the game close at 20-30 going into halftime.
The second half of the game started off strong for Tri County with Bryan Isom returning the kickoff to start the half all the way to the end zone, with Jorgensen adding an extra 2. Wakefield got back to work with Timothy Kaufman charging up the middle to make the game 26-38. The Wolfpack would score next when a nearly bobbled handoff to Michael Dickens results in another touchdown, with the point after making the score 26-46, with another added shortly after by Jorgensen with a quarterback keeper making the score 26-52 Wolfpack.
The Trojans would rally late in the game starting with a touchdown up the middle by Isaac Walsh, with the point after successful making the score 33-52. Walsh would continue to help the cause by diving on the Trojans kickoff giving them the ball, which the Trojans would grind down the field into another touchdown.
After the Trojans last touchdown the Wolfpack hung on to score of 41-52 for the last few minutes of the game giving them the road win.
