The Wakefield Trojan football team took to the road this past week for a Sept. 1 contest against Bancroft-Rosalie and suffered a loss, 34-16 to the home team.
All-purpose yards totals went to Cael Johnson, who marked 32 yards receiving and 32 yards on a kick return for a total of 62. Isaac Walsh handled most of the team’s rushing duties with 47 yards credited to his card. Jacob Borg had 21 total yards, mainly on a kick return, and Sam Chase also posted 9.
Borg handled the passing for the Trojans, throwing two completions out of eight attempts for 77 yards including a 45-yard long toss.
Walsh posted the majority of the team’s tackles – 11, off 7 assisted and 4 solo. Cael Johnson had six, as did Jesse Lundahl, Domingo Cetino had two and Tim Kaufman and Sam Chase were both credited one.
Points were brought in by Walsh with the team’s lone touchdown and a two point conversion for eight total, and Sam Chase on a two point conversion as well.
Wakefield will be on the road again this week, traveling to Pender to take on the 0-2 Pendragons on their home field with a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Pendragons posted a 20-14 loss to Elkhorn Valley in their opener, and lost last week to Clarkson/Leigh, 36-29.
