The Wakefield boys’ and girls’ track teams had a short trip to Laurel for the 2023 Lewis & Clark Conference track invitational on Saturday, April 29 – both teams finished in the top five of the 14 teams that took the field that day.
The Wakefield Lady Trojans finished in fourth-place with a 65 overall. Ponca won the women’s side of the event with 90 points, Plainview was second with 81 points and Homer separated Wakefield from third with a 71 point finish.
The Trojan boys’ team fared one spot better with a third-place 70.5 team points. Ponca also won the boys’ competition with 105 team points. Plainview had second with 71 and Tri-County Northeast was third with 54.5 points.
The Wakefield track teams will take to the field again on May 4 at the Norfolk Catholic Invite, and will then have District Track on May 11 at the Hartington Community Complex with Cedar Catholic as host.
Other teams at the District track event will be Cedar Catholic, Hartington/Newcastle, Homer, Laurel-Concord-Colerdige, Pender, Ponca, Tri County Northeast and Winnebago.
