Schmidt

On Monday, May 23, 2022, Kyle Schmidt, 7-12 principal at Plainview Public School in Plainview, Nebraska was presented with the Outstanding New Principal of the Year award for Region 3 of the Nebraska State Association of S e c o n d a r y School Principals (NSASSP).

There are 50 school districts represented in Region 3. There are five regions in the state of Nebraska. As the Region 3 award winner for Outstanding New Principal, Schmidt will be eligible to earn the state award that will be announced later this year in December.

He will be chosen by a committee selecting between the five Nebraska region winners of this award. Dr. Darron Arlt, superintendent of Plainview Public School, had the following to say, “Kyle Schmidt is a gifted leader with a natural aptitude for school governance.

He possesses just the right temperament for working with teachers and students. You might say he’s like baby bear’s porridge...not too hot and not too cold...he’s just right. He’s poised for quite a successful career hopefully all for the Plainview Pirates! To use one of his phrases….nobody does it better!”

Kyle Schmidt completed his third year as the 7-12 Principal, Athletic/Activities Director, and Head Football coach at Plainview High School. Prior to coming to Plainview, he served as the Business, Technology, and Junior High Physical Education teacher at Battle Creek High School. In addition, he coached Football, Girls Basketball, and Junior High Track for eight years. Schmidt earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Concordia University in Seward in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Business and Physical Education.

He then furthered his education by earning his Master’s in Education Administration from Wayne State College in 2019. He currently is working on his Education Specialist Degree through Wayne State College. Schmidt is a member of the NCSA, NASSP, and NSIAAA. At Plainview, he serves on the school improvement team overseeing the district’s committees and curriculum groups.
